Well friends,
If anyone is actually reading this blog...don't give up on a trip to Italy with us! We planned to take a group in 2009, but due to some really good fortune, we were offered a vacation apartment at no cost in Rome, and several tour operators took us on tours at no cost so that I could write about them. So that was wonderful and fit right into my budget friendly Euro plans. We will try to arrange dates either this fall (2010) or spring of 2011. Going as a group will get us some great deals on tours and accommodations! How does a tour to see Etruscan tombs and their frescoes from 400-500 bc sound? Without a bunch of other tourists around??? Then lunch at a local farm with everything freshly grown, prepared and produced? Mmmmm...stay tuned!

Hello fellow travelers,
This is not a 'blog' as you know them...it's more where our travelers and those considering traveling with us will have the info that you need.
So many people in the past years have said, "Take me with you to Italy!" So we've decided to do just that! We've decided to jump in and begin taking small groups to Italy...no more than 8 or 10 people, hence the name, Intimate Italy.
Many of you know that our first trip will be next May, 2010 and you have asked, "How much? How much? Well...about how much? Approximately how much?" Our estimate has been held up by airfare...but we now think that we have a fairly good estimate of the trip cost. We'll talk about that a bit further on.
Trip dates: May 21 - 31, 2010 (This encompasses 2 weekends and Memorial Day, so those of you who have to take vacation days at work will only have to take 6 vacation days for this 11 day trip!)
What's Included:
9 Nights accommodations in Rome
Airfare
transfers to/from airport
Hotel service charges, taxes and fees
Colosseum/Forum
Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel/St. Peter's Basilica
St. Paul Outside the Walls (where Paul is buried)
St. Pietro in Vincoli (To view the actual chains that imprisoned Peter prior to his martyrdom
Day trip to Tuscany
Lunch in a Tuscan Castle
Day trip to Pompeii
Day trip to Orvieto (A charming hill town about 1.5 hours from Rome by train
Pantheon
Trevi Fountain
Daily breakfast
One (possibly 2) group dinners

We are looking at an approximate price of about $2, 299 per person. OR LESS! Again, this is just an estimate based on the higher range of what we think the actual cost will be.
A different travel company that I checked, and feel free to check yourself, offers a similar trip in the month of May only it's 7 nights as opposed to our 9 nights, and does not offer the day trip to Orvieto at all. The price? $3,298 per person! That's right! A full $1,000 more for 2 nights less and no day trip to Orvieto! Also no personal attention, (well, as much personal attention as you can get with a group of 40 or more people) and my personal favorite...no goodie bag! The company is http://www.goaheadvacations.com/ You'll want to 'browse trips' , click on Italy, then click on the Rome city stay. They will quote you a base price with very little included. When you start adding on the 'excursions' (Colosseum/Forum/Pompeii...etc) this is what drives the price up to $3298 per person.
Our trip includes all of that and more!

A deposit of $250 will be due by August 31, 2009. We cannot accept credit cards, but we will take personal checks or you can pay via Paypal.
